Submission of Proposals

Proposed formats

 

The ICPSong'16 welcomes participation in five different formats:

 

Papers*: a maximum of 30 minutes will be allocated to each paper (20’ for presentation and 10’ for discussion).

Panels*: a maximum of 90 minutes (proponent plus 2 participants (20’ for presentation and 10’ for discussion).

Roundtables*: a maximum of 60 minutes (proponent/moderator plus 3 participants)

Workshops*: 60' and 90’ each (Musical composition, literary composition, music performance, network building)

Posters*: 80 cm width by 100 cm height

 

* The number of words/characters is given in each form.

 

Topics for the proposed formats

 

The interdisciplinary ICPSong'16 particularly welcomes participation that addresses (but is not limited to) the three following topics:

 

Protest songs and resistance (liberation movements in dictatorial regimes, former colonies, etc.)

Protest songs and revolution (throughout the world in the 20th and 21st centuries)

Protest songs and social intervention (minorities, environment, sexuality, health, conflict, etc.) 

 

 

Multidisciplinary and varied perspectives are welcome, including diversity of performing/scientific approaches, stylistic diversity (art music, popular music, etc.), local and global mediations, hegemony and power, material and intangible culture and heritage, music industries and technologies, particular cases based on artists, countries or music categories/genres.

Deadline for the submission of the proposals: March 28th 2016

 

Notifications regarding acceptance will be sent by April 15th 2016

 

Early Bird deadline for confirmation of payment fee: April 22nd 2016

Deadline for the submission of texts for publication’s selection: May 6th 2016.

 

(Selection based on scientific and logistic criteria – subject to the date of the reception – by the Scientific Committee)

 

 

 

Conference Full fee: 80€

 

The fee of the ICPSong16 covers the costs of the certificate of attendance, the printed and the electronic versions of an e-book edition of selected presentations, involving individual papers, group panels, posters, or reports of roundtables and workshops. It also covers the first evening concert, the out of town works/walks of the afternoon of the middle day with the included cocktail/dinner, the coffee breaks, the three lunches and the final dinner and concert.

 

Each participant may apply for no more than one item for each one of the formats proposed (paper, panel, roundtable, workshop and poster).

Students of the organizing institutions, Dpt of Musical Sciences (FCSH/NOVA) and partners of the Observatory of the Protest Song (IHC - FCSH/NOVA, AJA, SMFOG & CMG):

- symbolic fee €5 (without meals). 

Professors and researchers of the DCM (INET-md & CESEM) and of the IHC (FCSH/NOVA) & ICPSong'16 Committees:

- 50% off the full fee (without meals). 

Participants invited by each proponent (sharing paper or poster authorship, panels, roundtables and 
workshops) need to apply, for logistic needs, with the same benefits of their own proponent.
